It's a Boy

David Andrew Steed came today at 7:55am. He weighed 8 lbs 12 ounces, was 21 1/2 inches long and is just about as perfect as can be.

Mom and baby are both doing great.

We are so grateful.

On the 2nd Night Left of Restless Sleep My True Love Gave To Me . . .

A night on the town! We ate at one of our favorite restaurants and then shared a piece of this from Magleby's . . .

Then we went on a very long walk!

The Farm

I've been trying to squeeze in some fun things to do with Lucy that I figure will be tricky to do with a newborn, so on Wednesday My Mom met us at Thanksgiving Point and we went all around their farm . . .
Lucy had a blast. She would tell us all the animal names and the sounds they make. I thought she would be afraid of the pony ride, but she loved it. When it stopped, she said, "horse, go, please". It was so cute. Good thing no one else was in line so she got to go a second time.
It was such a fun day. She really loved the horses, goats and bunnies. She, however, did not like the rooster crowing at all.
We have watched the 30 second video clip I took of her on the pony at least 50 times since that day . . .

On the 3rd Night Left of Restless Sleep My True Love Gave To Me . . .

This one was really great. We went to The Open House of The Oquirrh Mountain Temple on Saturday and there were so many beautiful paintings by Minerva Teichert that I kept commenting on. So Marc looked high and low and found the print, Look to Your Children for me. Very fitting . . .

Sweet Prayer

I can remember hearing in this last conference about doing your best to teach your toddler to pray and my thought was, "I'm sure trying, but I'm not sure it's helping". Then the other day we hadn't eaten very well all day so Marc BBQ-ed some chicken and we were sitting on the back porch eating it. It wasn't really dinner, just something to get some protein into us. Lucy looked at us after taking a few bites, she folded her arms and said, "Arms, Amen?"

We were quickly humbled by our toddler who had learned to pray and said a blessing on our food. What a blessing it is to teach, mold and be taught as a Mother . . .

I think I'll have plenty of pictures to fill it with!

On the 6th Night Left of Restless Sleep My True Love Gave To Me . . .

My Sweet Hubby has decided to spoil me with a special something each day from now until the Jr. is born.

On Monday I received . . . .

A Yummy Chocolate Donut and . . .

Some guilty reading enjoyment.
People Magazine Cover
Today (Tuesday), I received an adorable stuffed cougar that I'm fairly certain Lucy has already laid claim to. She LOVES to hear us sing The Cougar Fight Song.

I feel so loved!
Stay tuned for more installments . . . we have until Sunday!

Batteries NOT Required

We went through WAY too many batteries with Lucy's baby swing, so with Jr coming, we explored the option of converting it from battery operated to a plug-in. Sure enough, my friend's brother had done this with a swing and sure enough, my amazing husband figured out how to do it with our swing! Oh the money we will be saving!!!

The directions are below if you're interested . . .To plug in your swing you'll need to make an AC adapter like the one in the picture below. Find an old one you don't use, or go to Radio Shack and just buy a generic one. Match it as close as possible to the volts put out by the total of the batteries, or slightly higher (probably around 9 or 12). Cut off the round plug end, strip the wires about a half inch, and crimp on two of the aligator clips like the ones in the picture, again, from radio shack. The wire with the stripe or the writing is usually the negative one (black). Then open up the battery compartment on the swing and find where the wires connect to the springs, or whatever the metal parts are in there and connect the red to the positive and the black to the negative. You might have to experiment to figure exactly where to connect them, so turn it on and move the leads around until it works.

My how time flies . . .

Today, I have a wonderful family and we are are excitedly awaiting the birth of our son in less than 2 weeks . . .

A year ago, we were vacationing in Southern Utah with our little Lucy without any thought that Jr. would be coming any time soon . . .
A year before that, I was experiencing my first pregnancy and we had just found we would be having a little girl . . . .
A year before that we were taking engagement pictures so that we could announce to the world how happy we were to have found one another . . .
And a year before that, I was footloose and fancy free as a single lady who booked a ticket to NYC with 2 weeks notice so I could go see The Gates in Central Park . . .
(little did I know the man of my dreams would be entering my life just a few weeks later . . . of course it would take him 3 more months to officially take me out . . . worth every minute!!!)

Veggie Shake

Marc makes these veggie shakes to get all his vegetables in. They have in them (among other things) kale, spinach, flax oil, broccoli, carrots and so forth. He does his best to swallow them while another little someone in our house can't seem to get enough . . .

Question for Mothers who have 2 or more kids . . .

My second pregnancy has been NOTHING like my first pregnancy, but my Doctor keeps reassuring me that how my body will proceed with labor will most likely be how it did with my first baby. This means I will not dilate, efface, the baby won't drop etc and I will have him as a planned c-section on May 31st (pretty much I will not go into labor). I am totally fine with this, but I just can't help but be surprised that if everything else with the pregnancy has seemed so different than why will labor be the same?

So my question is: Were your labor stories pretty much the same? Meaning, did your body pretty much follow the same pattern as before? I'm conducting my own research poll I guess.

Latest Nesting Project

My Sweet Husband has been so great to help with all the many projects I want to get done before the baby arrives (it's funny how nesting works because I really feel like these are projects that HAVE to get done before the baby is here even though mentally I can tell myself that life would really go on without them getting finished . . . I regress).

So we wanted to paint this wall to make this area more of its own place. Thanks to my sister-in-law, Jayna, for helping me pick out the colors and most of all, thanks to Marc for his handy skills. I think it turned out quite modernly well . . .
I guess I am a bit obsessed with my "projects" because Lucy was going around the house on Saturday saying, "project". I hope I don't taint her for life.

Kind of a big deal . . .

18 Months

Lucy is 18 months old and you know what that means . . . NURSERY! I took her to nursery, she saw her friends, she cried when I left, but by the time I peeked back in a few minutes later-she was fine.

She stayed in there the whole time and I hardly knew what to do with myself as I sat childless in Sunday School and Relief Society. When I picked her up she was happily playing with the bubbles and wearing this adorable necklace that had a picture of the temple on it which she had colored and it said, "My family can be together forever". I felt like such a Mom looking at what she had made and talking to her about what she had learned.
Such a big girl. And to think-I will have a whole 3 weeks of this before Jr. will be here! Oh bless my heart.

Please Help

Hi Blogger Friends,

http://repairstemcell.files.wordpress.com/2009/03/autism-ribbon.jpg
I am walking a 5k tomorrow in the name of Autism Research. That's right, 9 months pregnant and walking for the cause! So if I can walk while 9 months pregnant, then you could probably donate a few dollars, right? If you would like to help please click here
