My Blessing Day 12/30/07

My Daddy blessed me. It was a very special time shared with lots of people who love me.

I Met My Sisters!

My Christmas was finally complete when my sisters, Hailey and Melia came to visit me from New York!

My Teeny-Tiny Apron!

Grandma Sampson made an apron for all the girls in my family. I think I will use mine for my dollies when I grow-up!

Daddy Got A Shotgun For Christmas!

But Mommy likes to use it!

I Met Some More Cousins!

Yeah for more cousins!

Thanks Mertens!

Look at how cute I am in the scarf and hat from Mertens!

Bed-head

Wow can I get some great looking hair or what? This is even without product!

The Stahrs Came to Visit!

My Mom has told me about a very special family that she grew-up with, the Stahr Family. I was so excited to meet some of them when they came to stay with us last week. My Mom says she really can't wait for me to meet the one named Rebecca!

I Met My Cousins!

Well, this isn't all of them but between nursing me and visiting with family, this is who my Mom was able to catch on film!

Clayton was showing my Dad how big (or was that small?) I am.

This is Claire, she gives me all her pretty clothes-I will be so styling when I grow-up. Thanks Aunt Karen!

Cameron wasn't quite sure what to think of me, but I think we will be good friends very soon (that is Uncle Jason and Aunt Holly in the background).

It's True!

I have often heard mothers say, "Babies grow up too fast." I never realized how true that statement was until I saw a 4 day old baby the other day and I realized my little Lucy was actually older looking than her. WOW! Treasure the moments before they pass.

How Can I Resist?

No major event, just a precious picture of our Little Lucy.

Great Grandpa Semyour

I just came from a wonderful place where I lived with my Heavenly Father. My Great Grandpa Seymour was there once too, but it was over 80 years ago when he came down to live with his earthly family like I did just 1 month ago. On Tuesday, Great Grandpa returned to live with his Father in Heaven. We will miss him.

Some of Mom's Favorite Shots . . .

My Mom says I'm so cute she could eat me, but I think she's the one who is good to eat!

Silly Dad spent all this time getting me propped up and happy so he could work on the computer. I thought his efforts were nice so I gave him a good 30 seconds before I started to cry.

This is one of Mom's favorites toys, she calls it her sling. She thinks I look really tiny when I am in it.

One Month

Dear Lucy-

You're one month old now. It's hard for me to believe that it's already been four weeks since you joined us folks on the outside. I thought I would be the family expert, as Mom is the youngest in her family and I'm the oldest, so I was around babies a lot more. I also thought that my experience with Hailey and Melia would be helpful.

Well, I am a boy. Mom is a girl, and girls in general have more baby experience than boys. Also, it's been more than 12 years since I was so involved with babies. So, I've learned this month that I've forgotten (or never had) the experience I thought would immediately come to mind.

Here are ten things I've (re)learned this last month with you:

10) You know who has the milk.
9) I need to thank MY mother for all she did for me.
8) Love reaches new depths when you entered our home.
7) Your Mom will move mountains for you.
6) Onesies have too many snaps. One is sufficient.
5) I can never change the diaper fast enough when you're hungry.
4) You love your hair brushed, from Day One.
3) You get junk mail.
2) When you burp, I feel better.
1) I love when you fall asleep in my arms.

Love, Dad

What I've learned as a Mommy of 1 month . . .

10. You don't have to run all your errands in one session.
9. An electric pump equals freedom.
8. We truly do learn love through serving others.
7. My dishes may not always get cleaned, but my baby always gets rocked.
6. Time frames and newborns don't mix.
5. Lulling a baby to sleep is an incredible accomplishment.
4. My husband is the most patient, loving, and giving man I know.
3. Once the baby is asleep-focus on the basics: eat, sleep, bathroom . . . EVERYTHING else is just gravy.
2. No matter how young or old we are, our Mother's calming voice and loving touch can comfort us.
1. My Mother has possessed a love for me for the past 31 years I had no idea existed.

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow...

Aunt Jayna found this cool website and shared it with us last night: A virtual snowflake designer! Unlike some sites, you can preview your flake, then sign your name. When you're finished, you can move your mouse over the snowflakes falling in the background and zoom in on the snowflakes that others have created.

Need a Snow Day?

Now, if only Lucy can get Dad Mom off the site...

Red is Lucy's Color

I am getting into the Holiday spirit with my lovely red dress. I'm not sure who that guy is next to me, but Dad tells me some day I am really going to like him.

9:30pm-5:10am!!!

Mommy and Daddy said I have been a good sleeper lately. I try to go to bed before 11pm and then I sleep until about 5am, eat a little snack and go back to bed until about 8:30am. Well, I decided I really wanted to impress them last night and I went to bed at 9:30pm and Mom said she got a little nervous when I was still asleep at 5:10am (that is 7 hours and 40 minutes) so she got me up and fed me. Mom said next time she will just let me sleep. I went back to sleep and didn't get up until 8am!

Sometimes...

...after a long day of eating milk, sleeping, burping, and filling diapers, Mom and Dad want me to have a little "tummy time" to exercise my back and neck. I gladly oblige, but I don't think it's what they were thinking.

Merry Christmas!

This is my very 1st Christmas and Mom & Dad are showing me how to do it right. Our house is decorated-I even have a pink stocking that is hung next to Hailey & Melias' on the fireplace. Mom & Dad said any friends and family that are feeling healthy should come over and visit with us during this special time. Below you can see us buying our Christmas tree. I promise that really is me under that blanket-Mom & Dad just wanted to make sure I stayed nice and warm.

What A Day!

It was a big day for me today. Today was Mom's birthday. It was also my first Thanksgiving. Dad made Mom a chocolate cake with banana frosting.

Mom tells me that this doesn't happen every year, but during special years (such as the year I was born), she shares her birthday with Thanksgiving. She told me that Thanksgiving is a time that you remember things you are grateful for. I am grateful that Mom and Dad are not going to take me shopping tomorrow. Mom is grateful that after 30 birthdays, she finally gets to have a daughter. Dad is grateful that Mom makes tasty pies.

For my present to Mom, I allowed her and Dad to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner together while I slept peacefully.

Morning at Mimi's

In celebration of Katie's birthday tomorrow, her friend Heidi has traditionally taken her to breakfast at Mimi's Cafe.

This year, however, two others attended:

Marc, and

Lucy.

Uh-oh...

I had a bath tonight. I love it when Dad washes my hair with the soft baby sponge. But when Mom wasn't looking, Dad "styled" my hair.

Lucy is so proud of her Daddy

Evidently before I was even born, my Daddy had to take this BIG test that said if he could work as a real psychologist or not. Well, the results are in . . . and he passed!!! Mommy and I are both very proud of him.

Breaking News!

You may find this hard to believe, but my parents have informed me that they actually had a life before I was born. Something about my Dad serving a mission in Australia, my Mom living in Taiwan, hiking, triathlons and more schooling between the 2 of them than I can even count. Anyway-here are some of the highlights I've learned so far:

My parents were married (that's probably a good thing), August 5, 2006 in the Provo LDS Temple
They got to go on a cruise in the Southern Caribbean shortly after their marriage with my Aunt Jayna & Uncle Ryan and Aunt Becky & Uncle Joe.
My big sisters, Hailey and Melia, live in New York and my Mom and Dad get to go visit them-this Christmas they will come visit us in Utah-I am excited to meet them.
Mom got to go to Hawaii and Kentucky for work this year. The Doctor says that I started living in my Mom's tummy when she was in Hawaii, but Dad wasn't there so we think he needs to re-do his math.

Mom and Dad served as Church Humanitarian missionaries in July of this year. They went to a far away place called Albania for a week and taught professionals there how to work with children with disabilities. Mom said I was there too because she was 5 1/2 months pregnant with me at the time. I guess it is rare for a missionary to be pregnant.
Well, my head is still spinning from all this news. I will do my best to keep you posted about these two as more things happen. Right now though, Mom and Dad say parenting is their biggest adventure yet!

Mom and Dad hope the scriptures will become more interesting to me in the future...

40 Weeks: Worth the wait!

The whole time Mom was pregnant with you, she would dream about how wonderful it would be to hold you on the outside. Dad felt a little left out during the whole process and he is so grateful to now hold his little Lucy. What a piece of heaven you are to both of us. We love Lucy!

Grandparents

I have LOTS of people who love me! Top of the list (well at least 2nd to my Mom and Dad) are my Grandparents. Above I am with my Grandma and Grandpa Sampson when I am 2 days old. Then you see me with Grandma Steed when I am just a few hours old. Grandpa Steed was out of town when I was born, so you see me with him when I am about 8 days old. Do I have them wrapped around my finger or what?

Then I got to see my Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Steed! I think my Great Grandma Steed could have held me all night long.

Above I am with my Great Grandma Sampson. I think her red leather jacket is very stylish!
