Disclaimer

Katie here, so I was reading other peoples' blogs and thinking how fun and put together their lives are (yes-I was comparing). I thought things like:"Wow their baby always look so happy" or "They are so great to always come up with wonderful things to do" and "I think they just love being a Mom so much-every minute of it" etc, etc. Then I realized that if you only saw my life through the lens of my blog you could very well think the same thing about me. Well, I am here to tell you we are not all roses over here.

YES, life is wonderful and I feel EXTREMELY blessed to have the family I have. And, YES, life is also full of challenges. There are times that being a Mom is hard. Times I wish I were more patient and kind. And there are just times I wish I were better.

So although I will most likely continue to report on the upbeat exciting times from our family-I thought it would be nice to let you know we are just one sweet small family trying to do our best and sometimes our best doesn't look quite as pretty as most of the posts on our blog.

I have felt the exact same way when looking at other's blogs (yours included) and have laughed about how my scrapbook also probably makes it look like life was perfect and all roses. My children will probably wonder why their memories are so distorted since it absolutely is NOT perfect around here! So it's good to know that life gets crazy for everybody and that most moms feel like being a mom is very hard work and not always rewarding. You're not alone! But we are so blessed and it's all so worth it. Thanks for the reminder.

You guys are great even if you aren't perfect. If you were, we wouldn't like you as much.

It's the non-blog-worthy moments that make us stronger! It's what makes all the other moments seem so much better. Especially when no one combed their hair today but went to friends houses anyways. :)

I've thought a lot about the "reality" that is portrayed by my blog. While I have never posted things that aren't true, and have never purposely tried to make things seem rosier than they really are, it is a definite truth that from the looks of blog life, things often seem more perfect than they are. Trouble is, when my baby is screaming at 3 in the morning I don't often think to get out the camera and document it (though I'm sure I'd appreciate it later). I think the optimist in me chooses to post about all of the good things as an exercise in focusing on those things. And I don't think that is necessarily bad, as long as we ALL realize that each one of us has strengths and weaknesses. We all have bad days. Most of us just don't blog about them.

Having said that though, I have actually been writing a post about some of the more rough aspects of my life right now. I haven't finished it yet, and I don't know if I will post it, but I definitely think it is important to write those things down as well, even if only for venting purposes.
