Breakfast with the President

BYU is getting ready to start another great school year. A tradition we have enjoyed as a family is the breakfast with the President to kick everything off. Here we are with a man we respect and love: President Samuelson.

Water! Water!

While we were at Heidi's triathlon, we passed an aid station with way more runners coming by than they had volunteers to maintain it so we jumped in to help. Here I am with my Dad helping to give water to all the thirsty tri-athletes.

Happy Birthday Heidi!

Heidi decided to do a triathlon for her birthday this year so we got the fan club together and went to cheer her on.
She did a great job and I was so excited to see her running all around. She is my most favorite Heidi of all. She sings me songs, lets me suck on zucchinis, reads me Sandra Boynton books, always shows up wherever we are and tells me I am so cute. I love her.

Picking Apricots

My Great Grandma Sampson and my Grandpa Sampson came out for a day of harvesting. We picked apricots from our neighbor's yard. Below is My Great Grandma entertaining me while my Mom climbed this tall, tall ladder . . .
This is my Mommy on the ladder. She was worried it might fall, but Grandpa said it would just catch her on a lower branch. Mom wasn't too comforted by this idea.
This is to show you how stinkin' tall the ladder was and Mommy was almost at the top!
This was about half of our loot. We're going to have apricot jam coming out of our ears!

I Shake To Discover

There are so many things around me that I still haven't quite figured out what they are. Something that helps me to discover thing's true purpose is to give them a good shake in one hand and then a good shake in the other hand. Below is a video clip as I was discovering what junk mail is:

*Note: The first 15 seconds of this video are the most interesting*

I Like To Disassemble!

See these colorful stacking toys? They are my favorite. I really like to take them apart and not stop until every last ring has been removed. When I get really excited about them I rub my little feet back and forth on the carpet and clap my hands. Sometimes I even sing them a little song.

It's Always Better When We're Together

Mommy said I was so lucky because Heidi was going to come play with me last Monday night. We had so much fun that I hardly noticed my Mommy and Daddy were gone, but then I saw these pictures and now I know they were off having fun at the Jack Johnson concert.

It looks like my Aunt Jayna and Uncle Ryan got to play with them too.
Below is a special treat from the concert. Zach Gill, Jack's piano player, played "The Devil Went Down to Bavaria" on the accordion. Hilarious!

And now we will leave you with some Jack . . .

*Note: in an attempt to get home to me and not keep Heidi out too late, Mommy & Daddy left before the encore and missed hearing Jack sing, "Better Together"-so sad (but I'm worth it)*

Happy Birthday Melia

Today is my big sister's birthday! She deserves the best day ever because she is so nice and fun to be around. She loves to hold me, tell me stories and sing me songs. I love that she is my big sister. She is a good example to me of doing your best in school and how to be friendly to others. She also loves the color yellow so I hope her day was filled with lots of yellow things!

Happy Birthday Melia! We love you!

Why Does 9 Months Seem So Old???

If you have talked with me lately, most likely you have heard me say, "Can you believe Lucy is 9 months old?" It has really thrown me that she is getting so grown up. I can't believe in 3 months she will be a year old.
Life with Lucy just gets better by the day. I find myself watching her and breaking out into giggles at how cute she is. I have to squeeze her and tell her how much I love her every time I pick her up (and as I'm holding her too). I love it when she blinks at me and makes a silly little coughing sound. This has turned into a little game we play of blinking and coughing back and forth to one another. It makes me smile every time I say "So Big" and she raises her little arms up to her forehead. She is becoming my little buddy and I am so grateful for this little piece of heaven in my life. Words could never express the gratitude I have for the blessing it is to raise a child.

Family Reunion Time

Oh what a fun time we had with Daddy's Family in the mountains! Mommy remembered her camera this time and she got lots of pictures of me on the 4-wheeler which was so much fun! The views were amazing and the bumps made us laugh a lot.Aunt Jayna is always so good to me. She always finds yummy things for me to eat and fun toys to play with. She has a tiny baby in her tummy that I will get to meet in January.
Uncle Ryan and my Daddy did some shooting. They shot clay pigeons which my Mommy said are not real pigeons so I didn't have to be sad.
We slept in the back of the Subaru which was so comfy for me. I'm not sure why my Mommy and Daddy got up so early in the morning and got out???
This is what our family looks like after a night of sharing the back of a Subaru together . . .
My cousin, Cameron, and I got some good playing time together. I am going to have to learn how to stick up for myself around all these boys though.
My favorite thing was when my Aunt Becky and Grandma Kay would sing to me. I loved the song about the little rabbit. Grandma must have sung it to me over 20 times.

What a great family I have been born into. Here's to many more memories together!

Goose For The Goose

You'd think a stuffed goose wouldn't be too hard to find, but Mommy and Daddy had to look all over until they found me my very own goose. I love it!
*Note: Ever since I was just a few days old Mommy and Daddy started calling me "Lucy-Goosey" which has since been shortened to "Goose".

The Sampsons

I just love my Grandma Sampson and she always wants to hold me and sing me pretty songs. I like to be with my Grandma.
This lady is my GREAT Grandma Sampson and she is so sweet to me. She made me a quilt with the ABC's on it. I love her.
We all got together to celebrate my Uncle Kevin getting his B.A. I just love my Sampson cousins

Seeing Double

Lucy and I are so lucky to have Katie be a part of our lives that we wanted to publicly express how much we love her.

Lucy says thanks for giving her life, nourishment, and love.

Katie has provided the same things for me: She is the reason it is hard to leave for work and why I look forward to coming home. Her energy and excitement about even some of the mundane and prosaic aspects of life adds to my quality of life. She also provides nourishment in the form of helping me grow and progress. I'm often taken aback by her insights and understanding. For example, her sense of home decorating (I'm not talking about knick-knacks, but rather paint colors, etc.) is great. Likewise, she has an eye for art; not just an appreciation of it, but for looking beyond the obvious to see deeper meaning and intent. Indeed, that is how she nourishes my life-by reminding me of deeper meaning and intent. Finally, she offers love. Unconditional love. For me this comes in the form of keeping our house running smoothly, making me lunch, greeting me when I come home in the way that only Katie greets me, her willingness to resolve difficulties, and the many sacrifices she makes on my behalf.

Thanks, Love, for two wonderful years. Love, M

Happy 2 Years (officially) . . .

Happy Two Years Babe!
Shortly after we were married we saw The Nativity. The role Joseph played really stood out to me. He was so good to Mary, met her every need, sacrificed for her happiness and loved her unconditionally. He was such a great man. It is no surprise to me that when Mary was called to be The Mother of the Son of God that she was given an equal partner as stalwart and loving as Joseph. At the end of the movie I stood in incredible gratitude for Joseph. Then as Marc opened my car door for me, I hugged him tight and said, "You are my Joseph".

With all of the commotion of getting married, we never did get our rings engraved so I asked Marc if we could do that for our 2nd anniversary. He, of course, complied. His ring now reads, "You are my Joseph", and everyday he does something more to make this statement even truer.

4-Wheeling With Lucy

Mommy is so bummed she didn't get a picture of the big event so this one from last summer when I was still in her tummy will have to do. At any rate, I went on my first 4-wheeling ride last Saturday and I loved it! Mommy kept leaning around Daddy to look at at my face and I was looking all around with a great big smile the whole time. It was so fun! I hope we go again soon.
